White Coffee: A refreshing, Caffeine-Free drink from Lebanon!
I first saw this recipe online and decided to try it for myself! It’s a simple and soothing coffee alternative, perfect for an after dinner refreshment. This Lebanese “White Coffee” doesn’t contail any coffee beans at all, in fact it’s made from fresh Mint and sweet-scented Blossom Water.
Created in Beirut, this drink couldn’t be easier to make yourself at home – all you will need is some Mint Leaves and Orange Blossom Water. I also added a dash of Rose Water as well as some Honey.
First, bring a kettle of water to a boil. Place 1/2 a cup of fresh Mint Leaves into a tea pot (preferably glass). Cover the Mint Leaves in a tea pot with hot water and allow to steep for about 3 minutes. Stir in 2 teaspoons of Orange Blossom Water and 1 teaspoon of Rose Water. Add 1 teaspoon of Honey, but if that isn’t enough, additional Honey may be passed, to individually sweeten drinks to taste.
This tea tastes similar to a camomile blend and works perfectly with breakfast or as a digestive. This tisane also works well alongside a afternoon snack like dried fruits and nuts. On a hot day, pour this one over some ice for a nice refreshing drink!
